Ben Lewis Smith...
Ben is organ scholar elect to Queen's College, Oxford. Ben began his musical education as a chorister at the Cathedral Church of St Thomas of Canterbury, in Portsmouth studying organ with David Price. During a two year period as Organ Scholar at St Mary's Portsea, Ben was awarded grants for two Oundle Organ courses which led to a number of recitals, including a week long tour in Holland. Ben has recently finished a sixth-form Organ Scholarship to Wells Cathedral School, which involved a lot of crossover work within the Cathedral, such as taking chorister practices and giving public recitals. Ben’s position as Organ Scholar at the Cathedral facilitated his study with Rupert Gough, Director of Choral Music at Royal Holloway University. Following a National Performance Day in Birmingham Symphony Hall, Ben was awarded a recital in the Worcester Three-Choirs festival. Ben is currently organ scholar to St. Mary's Nottingham as well as working alongside Ed at Trent College, in Nottingham. |
