Directions to The VoiceBox

Address: Kensington Mews, Forman Street, Derby DE1 1JQ

The VoiceBox is five minutes walk from the city centre and Abbey Street car park is 

100m away.

If you are travelling by car, be warned that the inner ring road is only three quarters complete and we are in the ‘missing’ segment! Also, there are major road works on the inner ring road for the next three years and these could cause delays. 

From the A50 or A38 south (and A516)

Leave the A50 at the A38 (Toyota car plant) junction. Take the slip road signed M1 South, Nottingham, Derby A516. At the slip road roundabout take the 2^nd exit towards the city centre. Cross over the outer ring (A5111) at the traffic lights and continue on A516 (thro’ another set of lights) towards the city. As you pass a bright yellow building, Capital Storage,  you enter the one-way system. Take the right hand lane to the t-junction (100m) and keep in the right hand lane as you turn right towards traffic lights(100m). At the lights (a five-way junction) turn sharp right into Curzon Street, signed A516, as though you were going back out of town and take the first left into Forman Street. The VoiceBox is on your right and Abbey Street car park is 100m straight ahead.

From the A38 north or the A6 north

Take the A6 towards the City Centre. Pass the slip road for the inner ring east (signed Nottingham) and loop round to take  the westbound  carriageway of the inner ring road. Move into the middle lane to the traffic lights (LH lane filters off). You are now in the left hand lane as you go straight on, over a pedestrian crossing to more traffic lights. At this point the two lanes split into four : take the second lane from the left and go straight on at the next traffic lights. You are now in the right hand lane of two, with large office blocks on the left. The road bends at right angles to left to another set of lights (a five-way junction): turn sharp right into Curzon Street, signed A516, as though you were going back out of town and take the first left into Forman Street. The VoiceBox is on your right and Abbey Street car park is 100m straight ahead.

From the A52 east

After crossing M1 continue until you reach a large roundabout (Pentagon Island). Follow signs for Matlock, Ashbourne, Uttoxeter ignoring two lanes peeling left to city centre south. Pass A6 Matlock exit and go straight on to traffic lights (you need to be in the middle lane of three as you approach these). Continue straight on, over a pedestrian crossing, to more traffic lights. At this point the two lanes split into four : take the second lane from the left and go straight on at the next traffic lights. You are now in the right hand lane of two, with large office blocks on left. From the A52 west

Cross over the A38 junction and head towards the City Centre on Ashbourne Road. When you reach traffic lights where you enter the one-way system you bear left then immediate right into a two lane road called Agard Street. Take the right hand lane and continue to the traffic lights. At this t-junction, turn right, crossing over two lanes of the 4 lane carriageway and moving into the second lane from the left and proceeding to another set of traffic lights about 30m away. Go straight on over these lights into the right hand lane of two, with large office blocks on left. The road bends at right angles to the left to another set of lights (a five-way junction): turn sharp right into Curzon Street, signed A516, as though you were going back out of town and take the first left into Forman Street. The VoiceBox is on your right and Abbey Street car park is 100m straight ahead.

From A6 south

Continue towards the city centre, passing Station Road (to the rail station) on your right, and then Derbyshire Royal Infirmary on your left. At the roundabout teun right onto the inner ring road and follow signs for Matlock A6. Pass A6 Matlock exit and go straight on to traffic lights (you need to be in the middle lane of three as you approach these). Continue straight on, over a pedestrian crossing, to more traffic lights. At this point the two lanes split into four : take the second lane from the left and go straight on at the next traffic lights. You are now in the right hand lane of two, with large office blocks on left. Alternative very secure parking is available at Bold Lane

Easily accessible from A38 north, A6 north, A52 east or A6 south as described above.

From A38 north or A6 north, enter inner ring road, keep in left hand lane (instead of middle lane to traffic lights) and exit inner ring. At t-junction 100m ahead turn right and then right into car park 200m on.

From A52 east or A6 south, pass A6 exit then move into left hand lane (instead of middle lane) and exit inner ring as above.

From pedestrian exit from car park turn right, and at traffic lights, cross over junction into Curzon Street (Bespoke bar on your right, Aqua bar on left). Walk to next traffic lights. Cross,  bearing half right,  staying in Curzon Street with the dental practice on your right,   Forman Street is the first left turn and The VoiceBox is on your right. Approximately 5 minutes walk.

Walking from the railway station

(Approx 30 minutes – the station is quite a long way from the city centre!)

Walk straight ahead to the traffic lights 200 yards away. Turn right onto London Road and walk past the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary towards the city centre. Cross straight over at the large inner ring road roundabout and walk past the Westfield Centre to reach the pedestrianised area. Walk down the pedestrian area (St Peter’s Street), past St Peter’s church until you reach HSBC bank on your right. Turn left here and walk past Debenhams on your left and the Central Library on your right. You reach traffic lights with a former church on the corner. Turn left into Curzon Street, continue to next traffic lights at a fiveway junction; take third exit (Curzon Street again) and then first left into Forman Street. The VoiceBox is on the right. (Debenhams to VoiceBox approx. 8 minutes)
